A workspace designed by trainers for trainers

The N18 Lab - the idea space

What were the initial thoughts that ultimately led to the realisation of the N18 Lab?

During the planning of Coaching Change training sessions, the desire to create a space that combines all the requirements of an optimal working environment, adapts flexibly and enables continuous further development crystallised. Apart from the obvious features, such as the open, bright and creative atmosphere, the N18 Lab is characterised above all by its attention to detail. These details are noticeable in the individually selected design elements, the local catering selection and the warm welcome culture. All of this conveys a harmonious image, which corresponds to our understanding of quality through the personalised approach and the constant demand for the satisfaction of each individual visitor.

What characterises the N18 Lab?

The N18 Lab was designed primarily for trainers and facilitators, taking into account the ideas from the Coaching Change training team.

This has resulted in an exceptionally flexible space. The large workshop room offers a wide range of possibilities thanks to its spaciousness and equipment. The 180 square metres provide sufficient space for training sessions, workshops and other events. There is enough space here for different group sizes, so that various scenarios can be realised and even extensive movement units can be carried out.

If desired, this room can be divided into two areas by a curtain. In combination with the particularly high ceilings, this is unique and also conveys the loft atmosphere of the N18 Lab in the individual areas.

Participant interaction is a central theme during training sessions and workshops. In the N18 Lab, people can work together in groups, e.g. with the mobile U-shaped tables or in a circle of chairs. The modular furniture offers trainers and participants countless options for customising the large workshop space. The flexible wooden modular system can be used to create many additional seating options, a stage or a lectern in no time at all.

The equipment is complemented by modern technical equipment consisting of a 98-inch screen with AirServer, Sonos sound system and LTE WLAN. Analogue materials such as moderation cases, flipcharts, a whiteboard surface with a total width of around 7 m and plenty of post-its are also available.

Additional services are organised individually with the contact person Christiane Heuer-Brockhausen.

What do participants appreciate about the N18 Lab?

The open-plan design of the rooms and the loft atmosphere invite creative work and thinking. The XXL moss wall is not only an eye-catcher, but also favours a pleasant room climate and sound insulation. Participants are provided with hot and cold drinks and a selection of snacks. The large wooden dining table in the lab is ideal for an extensive lunch break and get-together. Free catering is available here or you can choose from a preselection of nearby restaurants.

During the training sessions or workshops, the participants can spread out generously. In addition to the large workshop room, there are two lounge settings, one adjacent to the workshop room with an additional whiteboard and a secluded reception lounge, which also allows for undisturbed telephone calls. In a training context, these lounge areas invite small group work or individual reflection. This means that different settings can be realised in parallel and quiet retreats can be created.

Why is the N18 Lab located in Düsseldorf - Flingern?

The beautiful Flingern Nord district is urban, colourful and characterised by culture, manufactories and select retail outlets. The N18 Lab is also located in a former factory in the backyard. The N18 Lab thus combines a quiet environment with a central location, including a nearby bus stop hub within walking distance. There are several hotels of different categories in the neighbourhood, making it easier for external participants to travel to the lab. There are several cafés and restaurants within walking distance of the lab, which provide their guests with various delicacies during a lunch break or at the end of the day.
